color
Color is paramount…all flowers, plants, and living things are beautiful so as a designer
it is my job to select colors that complement each other. Often, colors in the same family
work wonderfully together. On the other hand, two or three different colors can make an arrangement “pop.”
The look and feel of flowers and plants are equally as important as color. I use a minimum of two different textures in each design and try to use as many as possible to add depth and uniqueness.
The shape of a blossom, stem, leaf, vine, and vase are all taken into consideration when designing an arrangement.
I strive to get the most out of our flowers and containers! Nothing goes to waste and we believe that any container that is well designed can be used. This means the blossoms
from cymbidium orchids which must be removed for a French style arrangement will not
be thrown away but floated in the turned over top of a plastic square box purchased for
$3 from the Container Store. Or that a rather boring clear glass vase can be made to look exotic by curling a leaf inside of it.
To be able to love what you do everyday is one of the greatest gifts I would ever wish for. Although it is not always easy to “give back” in the floral design world, I do offer services for nonprofit organizations at cost.
